S.P Kofi Sarpong has come under serious attack for performing Kofi Kinaata’s “Susuka” song at a gospel Rock Show event last Sunday.

The awarding winning artiste and current gospel artiste of the year after performing a couple of his songs decided to give some inspiration to patrons. He crowned that up with Susuka.

Little did he know that a fellow gospel artiste – Naa Mercy who is well known in the contemporary gospel circles was going to descend on him right on the same platform for singing what she termed a “wordly” song in a Holy place.

When it was Naa Mercy’s turn to perform, she took a few minutes to chastise S.P Kofi Sarpong for his act.

According to Naa Mercy, God is a jealous God. And that children of God should not joke with the holy spirit. She expressed her reservations right in the presence of the popular gospel artiste.

Speaking on the AM Pluzz show with Sammy Flex, manager of SP Kofi Sarpong – Kwesi Ernest has explained Kofi’s act and stated that SP Kofi Sarpong is noted for ministering good songs be it gospel or not. Once he finds the song inspiring, he is likely to perform it on any platform he deems fit.

He however cautioned budding artistes to be careful the way they carry themselves about in the name of being holy.

Top Ghanaian musicians have been compared to foreign football clubs

An anonymous on social media is spreading a WhatsApp message and it’s going viral. This message is a list of top Ghanaian musicians who are compared to top and lowest foreign football clubs.

The list contains top nineteen (19) Ghanaian rappers and singers and based on their performance, brand and popularity, they are linked to these foreign clubs.

Sarkodie vindicated; proves why some Gh rappers are lazy

Multiple award winning Ghanaian rap artist and CEO of SarkCess Music, Sarkodie has indeed proven most Ghanaian rappers are lazy.

Couple of weeks back, the BET Award winner dropped a single titled Take It Back in which he addressed the falling standards of rap music in Ghana. Aside the many things he said in the song, he referred to some rappers without mentioning names as “lazy ass rappers”. This line seemed not have sat well many but a few weeks down the line, his line in the song seem to have been justified.

After dropping an amazing cover to E-40‘s 2014 hit single Choices (Yup), the song has suddenly gained such popularity in Ghana that almost every artist has or is considering a cover. It is not surprising that he says in the 2 minutes 40 seconds song Take It Back,” Dabia na mo hw3 me cos I’m up to something” (You are always looking up to me cos I’m up to something).

The first to have done a cover was music duo Gallaxy. Their version seemed very nice and quite cool to follow as they addressed the recently held Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. This made the song pretty interesting and creative.

However, since the covers seem to be flowing in with very little or no substance.

Some of the artists to have done covers so far include Stonebwoy, Yaa Pono, Nakie, Papi, Ayes3m and Criss Waddle.

This, however, leaves one to think if none of these artists knew such a song ever existed till Sarkodie dropped his own cover. Anyway, it’s not wrong to have covers but what about the very poor content? Perhaps, it’s just the lazy copycat culture among some Ghanaian artists.

Anyway, I’m tempted to think Sarkodie knew exactly what he talked about when he referred to some rappers as “lazy ass rappers”. Lead and they’ll follow.

The Black Stars of Ghana trained at the Accra Sports Stadium for the first time in their new Puma kits.

It was announced on Monday that the team will use their new kits for their first training ahead of their 2017 Afcon clash with Mauritius.

The new kits were used following the cancellation of the friendly with Guinea where the team was expected to use the jerseys for the first time.

Japanese envoy donates equipment for kendo

Yoshimura, last Thursday donated martial arts equipment worth $4,200 to practitioners of kendo - a new form of martial arts he introduced in Ghana last year.

Ambassador Kaoru, who handed over the items to the Ghana Judo Association in Accra, was hopeful the equipment would help promote the sport in the country and prepare athletes to compete for laurels at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

According to him, the equipment, which includes eight sets of Bougu (protective gear), nine Shinai (bamboo sword) and a number of Tengui (head wrapping towel), were his personal donation.

He said some friends and colleagues from the Nagasaki Prefectural Government Kendo Club, the Nagasaki-Hirayama Kendo Club and the Meguro-ku Kendo
Association also supported him.

The ambassador also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GJA which mandated the latter to oversee the usage and maintenance of the items till a Ghana Kendo Association is inaugurated later in the year.

The equipment was received by the Technical Director of the GJA, Mr Andrew Williams, who promised to make good use of it.

The ambassador, who is an experienced Kendo-ka or Kendo practitioner, later demonstrated how the equipment would be used.

Dogboe ready for Ugandan pugilist
